Friday Evening Ride

After dinner we headed down to the refuge to check out the wildlife. As we approached the entrance I spotted a bunch of classic cars - The 20th Annual Borders 3 Jamboree Car Show is happening this weekend and we had a preview.  Sadly, I remember when a lot of these cars were brand new!

The water was pretty high in the refuge so there were lots of turtles on the road.

First deer spotted.  High-tailing it off the road.

A little further down the road we saw a larger group of deer.  Right as I was getting ready to take a picture a Bald Eagle swooped in.

Put up it's landing flaps and settled in to munch on a fish from the Kootenai river right next door.

Spotting deer in a family setting is so fun.  I like to think the Bucks are keeping watch on the pregnant does.  No fawns yet.

The juvenile bald eagle is getting bigger.  Here he was keeping watch on his parent in the nearby tree.

Coming home from the refuge Bonner's Ferry was hopping.  I love the goggles on this pretty dog.  The car show will take over the downtown on Saturday.

Game Cam

The good news, I followed the directions and set the correct date and time on the game cam!  The next few pictures are actually in April 2019.  I love when a wild animal looks into the game cam to see what is going on.

This is the fellow we saw in the front yard this morning.

Actually, there were three bucks mowing the front yard this morning.  I was too slow with my camera to get any pictures of the beautiful boys. 

Momma Squirrel stopped by for a visit today, she spent enough time under the tree I was able to get a couple of fun pictures of her.  I think this may be the same squirrel from the game cam.  Probably has a nest in one of the trees. 

Looks like she probably has some babies to feed.  I love living in the city limits with so much nature happening right outside our door!  

Memorial Day Parade

The Bonners Ferry Firefighters Honor Guard led the parade.

We met this fellow at his farm last Friday.

Gia has joined 4H this year.  There were three flatbeds with kids on board and I didn't even see Gia!  Good thing my camera did.

And a bit of "unicorn/horse" play.  I have no idea what this is about but they threw some great candy. Just checked Google and it said it is a meme...now I have to find out what a meme is?

 And this float is what Memorial Day is really all about.

Honoring those that have died for our freedom. This was the most beautiful and saddest display. We will always remember those that gave their lives for our freedom.

Saturday Fun

We packed the Roemer girls up and headed to Coeur d'Alene for some cousin time.  Emma and Olivia had a ball game at Ramsey park.

The Diamonds played at Ramsey Park in Coeur d'Alene. The park is beautiful, sitting right next to the Salvation Army Kroc Recreation center. We went inside to see what the center was about and I saw this gorgeous piece of art. I thought it was stained glass, the light was perfect. The center was funded by the wife of Ray Kroc (McDonald's). What a legacy.

On further inspection, it's fabric, woven through wire! I immediately thought of my fabric friends. Isn't this gorgeous?

We headed over to Spokane in time to see Marcus up to bat.

Cute Ceci!  The concession stand had fried mac n'cheese and the smell was killing us.  We introduced the Roemer girls to the Golden Corral - yes, they loved it!  Gia made the prettiest salad I've ever seen included eggs, shrimp, cucumbers and tomatoes.  The girls gave GC two thumbs up!

Ran into this sign in Ponderay.  Finally, someone knows how to spell Idaho! Wondering if these folks are from Wyoming? Whatcha think Bob?
