We headed south on Saturday morning. Leaving Marc, Tracie, Olivia, Emma and Marcus behind to close up the house for the winter. I'm pretty sure their team took care of everything and eased the stress for me and Bruce.
Sweet Olivia stood at the window until we were down the road. As you can see, besides me, the Wildcat Trailer wasn't invited to Arizona this year. I will miss traveling with the RV. Sleeping in my own bed, cooking our meals and just having a potty along the way will be missed.
We had great traveling conditions until we left Pendleton. Snow was in the forecast.
I was a little worried when we went through Deadman Pass and Cabbage Hill. The roads were great.
The closer we came to Idaho the worse the roads became. We traveled on a sheet of ice for at least 40 miles.
This is the first time I've been able to get a good picture of the cement plant, we were crawling about that time. We spotted a upside down RV with the little car still attached hanging at least 3 feet up in the air. By the time we reached Wilder and Ray, Alyx and Vonni's place we had seen 6 separate multi-car accidents. Thank goodness Bruce is a careful driver.
After a wonderful dinner and visit with the Christensens we woke to 4 inches of fresh snow.
We pulled out early and started back on our trip. This was a cool old bus parked in someone's yard.
Bliss? Not really.....
Twin Falls did not disappoint - beautiful sunshine and tons of migrating geese filled the sky. We saw another accident right in town, not too sure how the folks ended up on the other side of the sidewalk in a corn field.
The roads turned snotty as we hit Nevada - this was a great sign.
Road conditions for most of the day.
Hard to see anything coming or going.
This is the view out my truck door window. It is also only 4 degrees.
The road leading out of Ely was covered in snow. Lucky Little Red has 4-wheel drive and a heavy load. No problems getting up this hill.
Snowy roads as far as the eye can see. The best part of the whole drive - not much traffic. Actually the best part of the drive has been the scenery. So beautiful!!
Snow is mostly gone and it's starting to warm up. The traffic is still light but the rest stops are very few and far between. I have had laryngitis so I've been drinking tons of tea and water...Bruce has enjoyed a couple of days of peace and quiet. He actually asked me to start writing notes, I think he missed some of my conversation!
As we hit southern Nevada the rock formations were so interesting. I think I see a prehistoric turtle up on the top of this hillside.

And than the sky broke up and we had this view. Heading South!!
Tonight we are staying in a pretty little town named Ely.
This is a view of the hill outside our window. Snow is forecast for the evening..... wouldn't you just know?
Monday morning we did wake up to 4 inches of fresh snow... what's the deal? This is the view out my truck door window. It is also only 4 degrees.

We made it through Las Vegas without too many problems - one cut-off was a bit tricky but Little Red sort of pushed her way over and turned off. Lots of dashing little cars skipping across the lanes were a bit nerve racking. We ate lunch at a KFC - note to self: KFC is off the list. Greasy gross food.
What the heck? Is that guy hanging upside down???
Boulder City church. I'm sure I took a picture of this place on our way home last year. What pretty architecture! Hoover Dam traffic was backed up for miles. We arrived early in Kingman, washed the truck and ate a great dinner at Golden Corral. Our salad plates were much bigger than usual!
